My 2002 130 with the 40hp 2s has an aluminum prop that came as part of the package. How do you find the size? All I see on the prop is a long string of numbers. Where is the dia/pitch stamped? I am asking because the max rpms are well below what they should be for this engine.

Type that part number into GOOGLE.COM. That should find the pitch and diameter for you. There is no way to deduce it from that number other than to look up the part number and find a description of it somewhere. |

I had the same problem with mine. Same year/h.p... could only reach 4,800 rpm... the prop had a couple of dings in it (prior owner), so I got a new prop, aluminum, same dia./pitch, and raised the motor 2 holes.... Got the rpm up to 5,100, still below it's max. I've thought of going to stainless on the prop but have not, yet... |

arnereil,Do you know the pitch on your props? I assume you also have the Merc, what holes are you now using? Have you experienced any caviation with it raised? |
