Hi All,
I'm looking for some opinions on what type of performance numbers I should expect with these motors on a 1986 Outrage 18. I'm asking because the manual states that full throttle RPM range is between 4750-5250, at those RPM's the top spped on the GPS is approx 36-38 mph with one person and a half a tank of fuel. I don't know anything about the props I'm running or much else about props at all. If this was your Whaler what kind of top speed would you expect at what RPM, and what prop would you use to achieve this. Thanks to all for the great info posted everyday.

Peter

Hi, I run a twenty foot Revenge with twin 70 hp Yamaha engines, she does about 34-35 at 5400 rpms, I would think that you should be able to get a lttle more speed beings my boat weighs more and has less horses pushing her. I've pulled water skiers with her with seven people on board all in back, took a while to get on plane, but I did get the skiers up with no trouble, I really didn't take her to full throttle with everyone on boat but I pulled a tuber at 30 that day and had more throttle left. I am going to go over the boat in spring, pull tank cover, install teak pulpit and am adding doel fins to each motor to get her up a little quicker. She is a new boat for me and have only been out a couple times, but I have no regrets moving up from my Newport. Newport went fast, but I hardly ever go more then about thirty, and running out into Delaware bay this time of year 22-23 is about all you can do some days!..in the title Jim H. has a lead to an excellent article on props, do I know what I have, factory stock Stainless, but no idea about the pitch and such!! She does everything I want seems to sip the gas, and I know you either get a hole shot or top end, so I'm good where I am......................have fun, Jack....Twin versus single debate...I'm a twin screw guy!
