Does anyone know the diference between the Laser II 48-16990A45 and the 48-16990A46 props? I believe that the A46 superceeded the A45 but is there any diference in performance?

Dave are you considering this prop for your 14 Dauntless.

Chris,

Yes, I wanted to try a higher performance prop vs. the Vengeance 18 pitch I now run with. Why do you ask?

Dave,

we run a 22 pitch lazer 2 on a 16sl with a merc 90 2 stroke and have had some porposing problems which some members of the forum have attributed to the bow lifting characteristic of these particular props.

trim control is very small (has little effect) but we have learned to drive around it.

like the 16sl the smaller Dauntless hulls aparently are also prone to porpose and obviously this prop could exacibate the problem.

Performance wise the prop engine combination give reasonable hole shot although a little slow fully loaded (4 adults 2 kids) and 44mph by gps at wot.

Mercury's A46 prop suffix designates props with the Performance Vent System plugs and interchangeable hub system. The A45 props are either not vented at all, or have the fixed vents. Both are non-P.V.S. A45 Aluminum or Vengeance props do have the interchangeable hubs.

In the Laser II series, A45 props normally come with a fixed rubber hub, but this can be punched out and the newer Flo-Torque II hub can be then used.
