Is this engine to heavy for a 22' Outrage? I have a good deal lined up and want to make sure the boat will not sit too low with this engine. Currently the boat has a 175 hp Johnson; I just bought the boat and have not seen it in the water yet. Research suggests that the new engine would be about 150-200 pounds heavier. Any experience with a similar set-up? I have tried searching but cannot get a concrete answer. |

I've got an Evirude 225 HP 2-S, two batteries and an 8 HP 4-s on the back of my Outrage 22, and I don't think it sits too low in the stern. Others have more weight back there than I do... |

I have seen several Guadian 22's from the commercial division, factory rigged on 30" transoms with 30" Mercury 225 4-strokes. Other than looking huge on the boats, the weight seems to be fine. |

Hello, I think you should be fine with the Yamaha at sub 600lbs. If it is low with the 175 you may be a tad wet. Here is 700+lbs.-I think it is heavy but fully functional. Thanks Chap |

My 22 has a 250 on it and is fine. I believe the weight to be around 550#. |

This is how Kingfish's 22 Outrage sits at rest with roughly the same weight in the rear you are proposing http://photobucket.com/albums/v735/MontaukBob/Holland%20Rendezvous/?action=view¤t=DCP_1159.jpg |
