I initially posted this in the Post Classic forum but I guess I should have placed it here in the Performance section.I got over 10 hours on the new motor (Honda BF135) and decided to record some data:
Prop: 14.25 X 17 Honda Stainless
Load: 1 person 190 lbs, 50 gallons of fuel and 50 lbs gear
Motor Height: 3rd Hole
Air Temp: 82 degrees
Minimum planning speed 17.5 MPH @ 3100 RPM
4000 RPM = 28 MPH
5000 RPM = 36 MPH
6000 RPM = 42 MPH
6300 RPM = 44.2 MPH (WOT)
The motor is obviosly under propped because the Honda's RPM range is 5000 to 6000 and this motor tops out at 6300. The hole shot is great. I ordered a 19 pitch prop and if I get the same slip at WOT (approx 6%) the top speed should increase to around 47 MPH at 5900 RPM. The motor is very smooth and quiet. So far I am very pleased with it's performance.
