The current prop on my 15' CC is an 14X17 aluminum. The speed is good on it, but it seems to spin my 1986 Johnson 70hp a little to fast. I was told and read a 14x19 aluminum would be a better choice for my setup, but i really would like to go with stainless. So does any one have any suggestions on brands? i am currantly looking at a Michigan Wheel Ballistic 13-3/8X19.

Having a 1985 15' Sport with a 1985 70Hp Johnson, I am familiar with the RPM you would be turning with a 17" aluminum. Your hole shot is great, but WOT is pushing just over 6K RPM. For my boat, I actually have 2 props. The 19" SS that I use when I am just running around, and the 17" aluminum that I run when I'm skiing. If you're never tugging skiers, the 19" is the prop for you. Mine is a 1985 OMC of completely antiquated design, and has been re-cupped atleast once. I've even drilled vent holes in it attempting to help the pickup towing skiers. I love it for everything but skiing... |
