I am considering buying a 1998 26 outrage with a single 1998 mercury 250 hp bluewater EFI. Is anyone aware of performance with this setup? How will fuel consumption be for an "EFI" compared to the newer "DFI"?

A single 250 on that hull is very, very, very underpowered.

I has nothing to do with EFI versus DFI. That hull needs at least twin 150's....better yet...twin 200's.

Don't buy it......if you do..you won't be happy and can't re-sell it !!!!

Shop around!!

Not only is it very, very, very underpowered, but its also underpropped with a single outboard. Underpropped in this case means that the propeller of the single outboard won't have enough blade surface area to properly carry the heavy load.

Thanks for the advice. I did think it odd it is the only single engine 26 outrage for sale.

Also without twins that thing will be impossible to maneuver at slow speeds with any kind of crosswind
