A general solution to find propeller pitchESTIMATE TOP SPEED. Using the total weight, the horsepower, and an appropriate hull factor (180 to 200), estimate the top speed of the vessel using Crouch's formula.
PROPELLER SHAFT SPEED. Using the maximum rated engine speed (RPM) and the gear reduction, compute the propeller shaft speed.
PROPELLER CALCULATION. Using the computed shaft speed, the estimated top speed, and a reasonably SLIP factor (for a single propeller use 15-percent), compute the propeller pitch necessary to reach the target speed.
If you supply the appropriate data, I will be glad to show you how to work through these calculations.
