Ok I have to say it. I have just driven for the first time my brand new 225 Verado, and all I can say is that it is amazing. It is just awesome to use. If it werent for the price i cant see why anyone would want to buy anything else. I am one of the first to get one in our region in New Zealand. I went out with two hardcore yamaha fans for the test run, the were so impressed with it they called the mercury dealer the same day, they want one badly. At cruise I get 30 liters an hour and a top speed of 60mph, which is more than adequate. Very pleased with the motor. I would be impressed if that E-Tec was better. Can put some photos up if you want.

Mark,
Where in NZ are you. I went to the Auckland International Boat Show Thursday. It was definately overwhelmingly Yamaha. I'll be posting pictures soon too. It would be great to see some pictures of your set up too.

I was in Rotorua a couple of weeks ago. I'm here in Auckland on a study abroad program from the U.S. I have some friends in Christchurch under the same program. Nice to meet someone in the same area.

Was this a re-power or a new boat purchase?

Congrats, welcome to the club. I've the same engine on a 2005 210 Ventura; 69 blissful hours thus far. Next week I unwrap her for the season.

I believe he stated that it's a Haines Hunter:

Mark emailed me! It seems he is haveing a connection problem and has not been able to post. Sent me a pic of his 23ft Haines Hunter 650. Very nice boat. He says the boat goes 60mph with the new Verado. Great set up!
