The improvement is huge, and it offers great insight into which prop to use, by selecting and looking at all of the performance options. Also gives application and sizes on Mercury's new ENERTIA props, and indicates new available even number sizes on Mirage Plus, small diameter Laser II's, and the Tempest Plus counter rotationg props now recommended for offshore use.

Pitch accuracy problems from the earlier version seem to have been eliminated. Spend some time there, and you will learn a lot.

I keep getting error messages. Tried several paths through the menu, none work for me.

Much improved--it finally works with browsers other than [works of the evil doers].

So far its useless for me. The error message I get reads, "# Errors Pitch or Top Speed is outside of expected range ". I filled in all of my information accurately, and tried the two different boat descriptions that fit my boat (1985 15' Sport)
-Fiberglass Fishing (15-22' Shallow V)
-Flats Fishing (Low Draft Flats)

I think the error is related to my extremely low prop slippage. The motor is a Yamaha 90 using a 13" Diameter 19" Pitch black stainless prop. Observed numbers at WOT
-5500rpms steady on digital readout
-47.5-49mph--- usually right at 48mph via GPS
-2.0 gear ratio
This yields a slip percentage of 0.029894736842105307 (3%).

I don't see any reason why my reading would be faulty. The slip percentage is a little low, but reasonable I think. Maybe they still haven't worked out all the bugs? Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
Open to sugestions.

I got the same error message. I run a Powertech prop which gives a very low slip percentage (less than 3%). This seems to be the reason for the error message.

I agree - much improved accuracy over the older version.

Funny this should come up now. Just this past week I had noticed that the entire Mercury Marine web site was inaccessible to me regardless of what browser I used. Then the next day it was and for the first time ever, the Mercury Prop Selector was accessible as well.

Unfortunately, the results are entirely underwhelming. Apart from the error messages that crop up three times out of four, the few times actual results are produced, they are rather generic. I can make more meaningful reccomendations myself with a Jim Hebert's prop Calculator and my own literature.

I was also pleased to see reference to the new Inertia propellers being available. Curious about their retail prices, I tried to click the "Buy It Now" button but again hit a dead end with an error message.

It does not matter which of my four browsers I use to try to access the Mercury Prop Selector, it does not work well with any of them.

I had to change prop size from 17 to 18 pitch for the error message to go away. I was aso interested about the price of the Inertia prop. The prop selector chose a 20 pitch Inertia (too much pitch for my motor) and the cost was $650!!

I may be wrong on this, but I seem to remember the marketing of Enertia propellers stated that you could run a higher pitch because of the thinness of the blades. This was because of strength of the new line of props. So maybe a jump from 18-20" pitch isn't so unreasonable. I seem to remember a claim of 3mph gain as well.

Maybe so but is it worth $650?

I finally got the New Mercury Prop Selector to work on my Mac by using Camino as the browser.

Looking at the Inertia propellers I now see that they are rather small diameter three blade props, not at all like the Mercury Mirage Plus. I suspect these will prove to be good for top end speed as they appear to be comparable to the Laser II and the Tempest Plus.

I do not expect the Inertia will be of much benefit to the typical Whaler owner, but it may become the hot new thing to the go-fast crowd where an extra mile per hour or two actually means something.

Didn't I just read a thread about 90 Evinrudes on an 18 Outrage where about 50 different propellers have been recommended so that the boat could do an "extra mile per hour or two"?

Buckda, you are how officially a member of the "go fast crowd". (the term being used in a deragatory sense, of course, by certain Whaler types, who also experiment with 50 props for some unknown reason other than top speed.)

I ran it 3 times with 3 different types of boats with my 115 suzuki and each time it said NO PROPS FOUND. I find it odd that they do not have a prop in the 14x21 or 14x23" range which is what fits their 115 4 stroke Mercs....HOW WEIRD!
