My 1989 Revenge 25 WD continues to be a joy. The existing twin 175 Black Max Mercs (1990) still run well but need increasing maintenance as components wear out.
Last w/e the power steering became very stiff - mechanic said old, side-ram (?) had corroded and old tilt-tabs are interfering. He could repair and it may last another year or so. I'd prefer to get new Teleflex steering, but which would clearly outlast the remaining lives of the Black Maxes.
Then I learned that new Verado's come with steering system included.
It may be a stupid reason to consider new power, but it's been on my mind for some time now - the annual engine maintenance and reliability remains an issue.
What would you recommend for repowering my boat?
My BW dealer is recommending Twin 175 Verado's? Is additional weight an issue?
I don't need speed - I use the boat to commute to my cabin over open water - about 60 nm roundtrip on weekends, all season and almost all weather. I only need to cruise at 25 knots - but often into 20 knot headwinds and adverse wave conditions.

I'd very much appreciate any advice/comments from others who have recently repowered a Revenge 25 WD.
