What is the estimated weight of a 18 Outrage with an early model 150 hp, 2 stroke motor, with a full fuel load? |

I disagree slightly. I think that the published hull weight is "light". I'd put it at closer to 3000 lbs after you add your gear (anchor, electronics, coolers etc.)...and two teenagers may weigh 300 lbs, but most Americans are a little heftier - more like 350-375 for two adult males. Any bimini tops or other gear aboard? Add that to the weight. I estimate my fully loaded 18' Outrage, with twin 90 HP E-TECs (considerably more weight than the "standard" 150-HP 2-Stroke motor on most of these hulls) to be about 3,000 -3,200 lbs with just me aboard when loaded for camping/cruising and fishing. A full cooler can weigh as much as 80 lbs, and I carry two 92-QT gear coolers, 1 ice chest (coleman SS anniversary model), two 18 Gallon Rubbermaid "dry boxes" with light gear, a 5-gallon fuel can and the assorted other gear for a trip - sleeping bags, snorkel and flippers, etc. Add 225 lbs for another adult and his gear. |

Well Dave, I didn't see him asking about the "Classic Whaler Northern Expeditionary Forces" equipped 18 Outrage otherwise I would have included the necessary CWNEF survival gear in the weight analysis. ;) By the way, you forgot to include the weight of a jack hammer and blasting caps needed to clear away granite obstructions. ;) |

Canada wouldn't let me into the country with dynamite to blast my own channels into the granite.... ..>But seriously - How much does a cooler full of ice and fish weigh - and what about that other cooler with your ice and beer? Okay - how much does a fully-equipped tackle box weigh? Rods and reels? Downriggers? Downrigger weights? Depending on what you define as fully loaded, the boat could weigh anything from around 2,800 lbs (what I would consider a minimum weight with 2-stroke Outboard and full fuel with standard equipment and very little gear) to a lot more than that. I would guess that forum member Georgian Bay Whaler has more than 1,000 lbs of gear aboard his boat, not including fuel and motor weight, when he's cruising the North Channel and Georgian Bay. You think I pack heavy? He's got a Generator, two teenage sons, and a black lab (and assorted gear and food) aboard! Dave |

Hhmmm..... That is heavier then I thought. I was hoping that I could keep it all under 2,800lbs. The 18 is a 85 with teak and a 85 Evinrude 150. Trailer weight is 560lbs, 2 batteries life jackets and cooler. I am only concerned with the towing weight at the moment as the tow bar is rated only 1350kg. |

Alfred - If it makes you feel any better, I tow mine with a tandem axle trailer on a 3,500 lb drawbar and 5,000 lb rated ball with no problems. I tow the boat empty, though. The gear (most of it, anyway) goes in the truck for the tow. Dave |

What year Outrage 18 are we talking about? The numbers seem very low. I weighed my 17 Outrage II on its trailer with a full load of fuel and all of my normal fishing gear and the result was 3400 lbs. My engine weighs 452 lbs, the fuel is 56 gallons, which is roughly 400 lbs., so the boat and its gear weigh around 2600 lbs. An 18 has got to weigh more than this. Roy |

Oops, I seem to have forgot to subtract the trailer. It weighs in the neiborhood of 600 lbs, so my boat and its gear go around 2000. |

Roy - He has an '85 18' Outrage. Peter's answer is right in line with the published weight, however I think that the published weight is a little light for this hull. |

continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/009109.html 1987 with a known hull weight of 1540 pounds. I believe the hull weight of 1250 is on the light side. |

Yes the hull is an 85 hull. As long as the weight of boat, bow rails, bimini, anchor, batteries, fuel, motor and trailer does not exceed 2800lbs. I should be alright. Keeping my fingers crossed as the entire rig will be weighed soon when I get the trailer registered. I need to keep it legal as I am planning a long road trip with the boat in tow, at the end of the year and I don't want to have any issues with the local authorities! |

You are likely to be over 2800 lbs if you are including the trailer weight. A trailer for an 18 foot boat weighs in at about 600 lbs. 2500 lbs (high estimate for boat weight) plus 600 lbs for the trailer puts you at 3100 lbs for towing purposes. |

That will bring it to just over 1400kg. Should be manageable. Will try to get the entire rig weighed soon. Thanks for your inputs. |

Just a quick update, I got the shipping weight of the 18 on the trailer from the transport company as 1360kg or 2998lbs This is for the 85'18 with a 86'150HP Evinrude set up with a single battery, leaning post, ski post, bimini, anchor, chain, 2 spare props, 1/2 a can of bottom paint, all safety equipment and a bunch of other stuff. The fuel tank was pretty much empty. Trailer at 560lbs but it has a winch and battery on it and a step ladder to climb up the boat at the bow when on the trailer. I will try to weigh it again when I have only the essential items on and with a full tank of gas. |
