hi am thinking of purchasing optimax 225 but am a little concerned by some reviews (Epinions) on their reliability.
everyone seems to aggree their performance is great but as i live in a country where we do not have dealers reliability is my priority

thanks in advance

Well you just made up your own mind. If you need a good dealer network and service is #1. If that is not available in your area then the Optimax or any Mercury is not a good choice. Go with what you need, not want. Optimax and other DFI engines have required a lot of dealer help, mainly due to new technology but either way I would not do it. If Suzuki is popular by you, buy it, etc.

I got my 2003 Mercury Optimax 225 because the dealer/service support in town was the best of Yamaha, Suzuki, or Evinrude. Mercury support has been solid AND the 225 Optimax has been great.

I'd recommend you get the best engine with the best support - whatever brand. Only you can make that choice.

Optimax today are great, reliable and fuel efficient.
But support (any brand) is a must.

Nick Ghana is Blue Marlin hot spot. Not Guyana

Yeah, I remember that now. I'll be digging through the VCR archives this weekend for a Conehead refresh.

Mass quanities of beer must be consumed. If they were french it would have been wine.

Len,

French drink beer, wine, scotch, 51/102, cognac, rhum and sometimes buy water for the cooling system of the car ;)
