Well I test ran my boat today. It is a 1978 17' Mantauk, center console w/leaning post. 3 Adults 2 Children, WOT = 5700 rpm, 29.77 mph (reading taken from a gps. The boat handled great. I installed a no-feedback steering system wich is great. Alittle tighter, but you get used to it. I know it's not super fast, but it's fast enough to put a smile on my son's face.

When I was a kid the 11' Whaler I had only did 20mph and I had a great time. I'm sure your kid will be way happy with a Montauk that will do 30mph. Have fun. |

I think those are very respectable numbers for your load. Is this by chance a "bigfoot" model? If so, I'd like to know what prop your are using. Thanks! |

Try it alone and I bet you get close to mid 30's. We get about 35+ with a 60 Suzuki on a stripped down 79. |
