Did a search here and at Goggle but would still like to ask if anyone can tell me if and when they need to add oil to their 90-HP four-stroke EFI on a 170 Montauk. This is all new to me and I am just trying to guage when, if at all I'll need to add a quart during the season ( a season would be less than 100 hours). Checking before each use and everything is fine after 5 hours.

Thanks

It seems that four-stroke outboard motors are known more for making oil than for losing it. There are reports of four-stroke outboard motor oil sumps increasing in volume with use due to gasoline contamination of the oil. Loss of lubricating oil does not seem to be reported as often.
