I need to pick up a spare prop for the boat. Its a 2005 170 with 2006 Mercury 90 HP 4 stroke. I'm not sure what's on the engine right now. I know its a Laser II with a pitch of 18? The number 18 is stamped on the hub. My top end speed is about 38 at 5900RPM. Should I be using a 20. I was think the 13.25 X 20 Laser II as listed on the BW performance sheet. However I don't see a modle number for this prop.

If what you have now is a 13" x 18" Vengeance, it will say Venageance on the side of the hub. If what you have is a 13-1/4" x 20" Laser II, it will say Laser II on the side of the hub.No such thing as a 20" Vengeance and no such thing as an 18" Laser II. You could also have the Quicksilver (QS)branded version of these propellers. The 13" x 18" QS Silverado (Vengeance) will say 5118 on the side of the hub. If you have the 13-1/4" x 20" QS Lightspeed (Laseer II) it will say 5120 on the side of the hub. |

What color is the graphics on the cowling? White is the newer motor and red or blue would be the older motor.Warren |

OK, you need a Laser II 20 inch pitch for your newer outboard. The old 4 strokes came with an 18 inch pitch Vengeance stainless steel prop. How is your 170 Montauk set up? You should be running around 41-44 mph wot at 6,000 rpm. Good luck,

Let me guess. You 2005 170 Montauk originally came with the old 4 stroke which came with a 18 pitch Vengeance. The Montauk was repowered with the new Veradito and they used the "old" prop from the old motor? If you have an 18 pitch prop, WOT should be way over 6,000 rpm. Warren |

No, The boat is a 2005 the engine is 2006. Boat and engine were a package deal. The engine had 18 hours on it. I bough the boat about 8 weeks ago. At this point I'm not sure what the prop is. I do remember seeing a 18 on the prop hub. My WOT is 6000 rpm around 37-40 depending how I have it trimmed. My crusing RPM is a bit high. At 3500 rpm I'm running about 20 mph. Before I go any further I really need to see what exactly the engine is propped with |

I have a 20" Lightspeed 5120 that is virtually new; I do not believe it has ever been mounted on anything. Are you looking to buy one? |
