I am considering going to a SS propeller [on a DAUNTLESS 160 with a 90-HP motor]. My current aluminum prop gets me to 37-MPH so I think it is appropriate. From what I've read, that seems to be a realist top speed. The [engine speed] is in the target range for WOT. [Seeks] another owner's recommendation as to size and brand in [a stainless steel propeller]? I am hoping to leverage someone else's experience on this boat at the horsepower. I failed to mention that this motor is two stroke. The boat also has a jack plate if that matters. This year hull has the notch in it as well.

A Mercury 13" x 18" Vengeance would be a good starting point. For more top speed, try a 13-1/4" x 17" Stiletto Advantage I.

John, the advice given is correct. I had the same boat and it ran well with a 16 pitch stainless Mirage prop. I still have the prop if you are interested insaving a few bucks. By the way, do you have a four stroke or a two stroke. That is important info.

I thought the Mercury MIRAGEplus propeller was only available in odd-inch pitches. Where did you find a 16-inch pitch Mercury MIRAGEplus propeller?

A Mercury MIRAGEplus will NOT fit a Mercury 90. It is only for large gearcase motors.
The Mercury MIRAGEplus is made in odd pitches from 15" to 27" plus an 18" pitch. I am unsure if they make a 16" pitch MIRAGEplus but will check in the morning.

Correction: The MIRAGEplus is made in odd numbered pitches from 13" through 29" with the addition of the 18" pitch model.
There is no 16" pitch MIRAGEplus.
The breadth of sizes for this propeller model is a testament to its versatility and popularity.

It was knocked down from a 17 pitch at the prop shop so we could go waterskiing. I will also verify the type as it is most likely not a mirage plus as the experts here are stating. I honestly haven't looked at it in a few years so I am guessing as to the type of prop. In any case it may be too low in pitch for your two stroke. But you are welcome to try it and if it is not right, send it back to me.

Take a peek and let me know what you find out.
If the pitch has been altered (I was unaware that they could do that) I would not be too interested.
One of the gains I'm hoping to realize would be as a result of the SS prop having less deformation and thus, being more efficent. I would guess that if the pitch is tweaked at a prop shop, I would lose some of the optimized design characteristics.
