I have a 1988 Johnson 40-HP outboard motor which still makes my 1960 Boston Whaler 13-footer move right along. I'm looking for some suggestions to help get the boat [to accelerate] faster, but not reducing top speed. I will I find out what [propeller] is on there now. I can assure you its stock though. Thanks in advance.

Maybe try Smart Tabs. They seem to have quite a following. I am intending on putting them on my 13'.

Should have a 11.75x17 prop. Try a doel-fin, they work well on 13's.
