Well I finally got the new E-TEC [90-HP]. It only took a month. Do I have the right prop? I don't have a lot of information about performance but here goes: 3,000 RPM = 21 nautical miles per hour I will get better information I have just only had it out twice. To me [the maximum engine speed] just sounds low for the max throttle. I thought that these [Evinrude E-TEC motors] topped out at 5,500-RPM. The propeller that came on it [marked] 13.2 x 19, but has no name or anything else. The boat is a Nautauk [perhaps back formation from NAUset + monTAUK], old hull with all newer fixings. Any help on the right prop would be great. The engine runs fantastic. At what speed should I cruise? It feels comfortable at 3,200-RPM, but is that too [fast] if the maximum is 4,300-RPM? Thanks for the help, here are a couple of bad pictures |

No, that is not the right pro, not even close. Go back to your Evinrude dealer and tell him to exchange that prop for something a little closer, like the BRP 13-1/4" x 17" part # 763463. You want the WOT RPM to be much closer to 5,500 than 4,300. Your boat speed should be in the low 40-MPH. If you want a prop that is much better than an OEM aluminum then try their 13-1/4" x 15" Stiletto Advantage I. That is the prop many E-TEC 90 owners are using on their 16/17 foot Whalers. |

Tom is correct on prop selection. I have the same set-up as you and love the stiletto but I max out at 5,000, plenty of pull and speed for me. I think those with a setback bracket are able to get to 5,400-RPM Jeff |

The perfect wide open throttle for your 90hp E-Tec is 5200rpm. Anything else is lugging the motor & adding to your fuel consumption. In addition it is reducing the life of your motor.
