A while back I posted a thread asking if anyone had fitted [twin E-TEC 115-HP] engines to an Outrage 22, but it seems that nobody had. I went ahead and fitted two brand new E-TEC 115-HP motors to my Outrage 22, and I can confirm that it is incredible. My original concern had been the weight but in fact the boat sits in the water at pretty much the same level as it did with a single 200-HP Yamaha. The performance is amazing and obviously the fuel economy and quietness is great too. If anyone is considering a repower I highly recommend this package. |

I would love to see performance data as well. Speed, fuel consumption, etc. |

I currently have a Outrage 22 Cuddy with Whaler Drive with twin 150-HP OMCs vintage 1990. When I was looking at my repower options I seriously considered your setup but was concerned about the ability to plane on a single engine. Have you tried this yet? For me the cost (approximately $20,000 USD in May 2008) for twin 115-HP E-TEC motors was about the same as re-rigging and putting a single 250 E-TEC on it. |

I would also be interested to see some boat speed, engine speed, and fuel flow data for your boat. And pictures, too. |

Twin 115 Etecs would be one of my dream re-power options. What am I talking about- all my repower options are dreams. But if I could, I would. Doug |

English, That sounds like a great set up. I'd love to see a photo of the boat, preferrably in the water to get a sense of the static trim. Had the 115's been available when I repowered my Outrage 22 Cuddy, I may well have gone that route. Still thrilled with my small block E-TEC 200 though. |

Sorry for not responding before now but I've been away. As soon as I get off my ___ and buy a GPS I will post all the data, and if someone can tell me how to upload a photo I will do that too. |

Coincidentally, An outrage 22 with twin ETec 115's showed up at our marina and I took some photos. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c391/boatdryver/P1010001-1.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c391/boatdryver/P1010002-1.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c391/boatdryver/P1010005-1.jpg One of these shows the static trim. I haven't had a chance to talk to the owner. A couple of days ago I saw him out with this boat water skiing on Tomales bay. This is the first time since 1983 that I've seen anyone water ski here. There was a big adult on one ski. I passed them going 21 kt just as he was getting up. In about 3 minutes the Outrage 22 boat was a tiny speck in the distance. I guess you can infer his performance is good. jimL |

by looking at the bottom paint we can also infer that his static trim has changed with the repower. If I can talk to the owner I'll ask what engine was previously on the boat. JimL |

In the photographs (linked above) it looks like the new rigging with twin Evinrude E-TEC 115-HP motors has the boat floating higher in the stern than it did with the previous set-up. |

To me it looks lower in the stern than before the repower because in the first photo the bottom paint is above the waterline at the bow and no bottom paint is visible at the stern. Also, the bottom of the letter "p" in "Spirit" is below the waterline. JimL |

I am looking at this picture: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c391/boatdryver/P1010001-1.jpg I see what looks like a scum line or discoloration of the hull that is higher than the current waterline. To me it looks like the old waterline rose to about the bottom of the "S" in "Spirit" and most of the tail of the "p" was in the water. |

I think it is fairly obvious that the boat has bottom paint and that the waterline of the bottom pain is no longer visible in the stern because it is submerged. The bow shows bottom paint with a water line that ascends as it moves towards the bow. This makes sense because a pair of E-TEC 115s weigh 738 pounds which is quite a bit more than the 200 or 225 HP outboard typically seen on the Outrage 22. If the "scum line" shadowing represents where the boat used to float with old power, it was almost swamped because that is the level of the top of the transom! It also must have had the worst bottom paint job in the world ;-) |

You guys may be right--I didn't notice that blue bottom paint. |

The question everyone wants answered: Will it plane on one engine, propped normally for twin operation? Static trim does not look bad, perhaps an inch or so lower in the stern than my rig. In this photo, the boat is pretty well loaded with fuel, folks and stuff. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v408/andygere/2008%20Rendezvous/ IMG_3912_1.jpg It looks like the boat pictured has its batteries in the console. It would be interesting to know how much fuel was aboard. Had these motors been readily available when I repowered my Outrage 22 Cuddy, I would have been tempted to purchase them instead of the single 200 E-TEC. |

Nice looking boat. It was parked for a while at my marina in Sausalito, I used to look at it all the time. I would be nice to know the mileage and speed numbers. |

I believe that this "mystery boat" was bought from S.F. Bay Adventures, a boat rental company in the bay area. They used to have a bunch of Whalers in their rental fleet but now it looks like they have switched to RIB's. I remember seeing it for sale a while back. I think the new owner repowered after he bought it. |
