I am experiencing a "miss" when I throttle up. I have a plastic tank and just replaced the fuel/ water seperater and the fuel filter in the engine. I have a Yamaha F115. I am thinking it could be some water build up in the tank after sitting all winter. It misses but doesn't shut off. I'll throttle down, let the boat settle, then it will run all day long w/ out a problem. Then out of no where, it misses again. It feels like I am losing fuel flow somewhere down the line. Could it be trash even though I have a plastic tank? Or bad gas (high water or ethanol build up)?

Try some additives to remove water but I also had this problem with my 70 Suzuki. I would have bet my left leg it was fuel related. Would cough sputter miss, then clear up and run fine...Spark plugs. Change your plugs($8-10) and let us know.

Agree with Nick.

If a 4 stroke, check the fuel filter in the engine as well as the filter in between the fuel pump and the high pressure fuel rail.

My want to add fuel stabilizer to your gas and Yamaha's additive to keep fuel system clean.

I had this symptom at ~1800 rpm last year. This year it grew to a full blown problem and needed to have injectors and VST cleaned. Big bucks due to location of VST being behind the intake manifold.
