Guys, I have a 15 GLS with a 1995 Merc 40HP on it. The prop reads 48-73140-A-40-15P. Has anyone any info on different size props for this set-up ? I don't have a tach or speedo so I'm not sure where I am except it's pretty slow getting on plane. Thanks, Steve

Without a tach it is almost impossible for to give you advise. A 40 on a heavy GLS is kinda marginal but the right prop should do the trick. Yours is a 15" maybe try a 14" and see but again w/o a tach you might over rev with a 14".

#48-73140-A-40-15P is a 10-1/8" x 15" aluminum BlackMax three blade propeller.

I agree with Nick, we cant offer much advice without RPM data and/or speed data.

Borrow a handheld GPS and make a couple top speed test runs in opposite directions and then report back.
