Is a Boston Whaler SPORT 13 with a 25-HP FOURSTROKE Mercury underpowered? Are there any tests or reviews comparing [a SPORT 13 with a 25-HP four-cycle motor] to a SPORT 13 with 40-HP? Thanks in advance.

I don't know of any comprehensive performance reports for a classic SPORT 13 with either 25-HP or 40-HP, either two-cycle or four-cycle.

A classic SPORT 13 with 25-HP is a good combination. I would not consider it to be underpowered, whatever that means. It will get on plane. You can even water ski behind it.

I"m in agreement with jimh. The classic 13' with a 25hp is usually a great combination.
The only exception is if you are constantly hauling a heavy load.

3 or more adults and gear can be a bit much for a 25hp, but if it's 1-2 people, it more that adequate.

A classic Sport 13 is certasinly not underpowered with 25 HP.

Are we talking about a classic 13? There have now been three (and you could argue four, five or six) different Sport 13s made over the years.
