Is there a difference in hull shape between classic Boston Whaler SPORT 15 and new 2009 Boston Whaler 150 SUPER SPORT? Also, I need an opinion about general performance difference regarding hull shape between them. I have some experience with classic 15 sport. Thank you Kristijan |

I find this to be an interesting question. The new 2009 Boston Whaler 150 SUPER SPORT hull has a shape that appears to be quite different from the other recent 15-foot boats from Boston Whaler. There are many photographs of the 150 SUPER SPORT on the whaler.com website, but they do not reveal too much about the shape of the hull. The photographs are presented using a FLASH player, so it is difficult to point to them with a URI. In the sequence of photographs shown at http://www.whaler.com/boats/boat-150supersport/ , one of the images, about the tenth or eleventh in the sequence, shows the boat on a trailer and coming up a ramp. This image gives us a look at the hull form near the transom. Compare the shape of the 150 SUPER SPORT with the classic SPORT 15. You can see the shape of the SPORT 15 hull near the transom at http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/graphics/15Bracket/ brktphoto1LR800x600.jpeg For the hull shape at the bow, I could not find a good view of the 150 SUPER SPORT. You can see the shape of the classic SPORT 15 in http://continuouswave.com/maintenance-logs/bimini/images/whalerHeadOn. jpeg |

Maybe I'm wrong but I think that new BW 150 SS has deeper V hull than classic BW 15 Sport. That would help in rough water. |

I believe the classic fifteen foot Whaler is referred to as the Sport 15 (number last). The second generation, 2003-2008, is named the 150 Sport (number first) and the current 2009 model as the 150 Super Sport. From viewing photos I've seen, including those of the boat on the trailer, it appears to me the current 2009 has the same hull as the second generation, except with a curved sheer line. -- |

The SPORT 15 hull looks like its keel is much deeper compared to the sponsons than on the 150 SPORT. The hull shape of the SPORT 15 goes from a sharp-v entry to a rounded bottom at the transom. The hull shape of the 150 SPORT appears to maintain a v-shape to the transom, but the deadrise angle is not very great. |

Like Jimh said, from viewing photos of the transom, the hull shape of the Sport 15 goes to a rounded bottom and the hull shape of the 150 Super sport goes to a shallow V shape. I like that. I think is better for trailering and for riding performances. |

Some years ago, I made a photo comparison of the 15 and 150 bow and stern, using pictures of my 150 and Jim's 15. http://www.luffshack.com/Whaler/150vs15bow.jpg http://www.luffshack.com/Whaler/150vs15stern.jpg -- |

Moe's photographic comparison is excellent for comparing the classic SPORT 15 with the recent 150 SPORT, but it remains to be seen if the 2009 model 150 SPORT has the same hull shape as prior models. |

Was at the sarasota boat show today, that new 150SS is UGLY. I did not care for the setup at all and the cosole looks like an afterthought. Compared to the 150 Montauk next to it, the cap is definately different and not to my liking along with the headbeater ski bar. |
