I have a Yamaha F60 on my 15 Sport. It has 150 hours on it. I admittedly have used it only about 10 hours in the last 15 months.

I recently ran it, and it started cutting off (almost like it was out of fuel). I kept recranking and made it to the dock. It did recently have a fuel filter placed between the tank and the engine for the first time. There was not a lot of pressure in the bulb.

The last two times I have cranked it, it has barely wanted to crank. I bypassed the filter and made sure I had pressure, but could not get it to crank at all on Sunday (battery was almost dead).

I don't think its water in the fuel. Anything you can recommend before I haul the boat and take it to my mechanic? I am going to have to tow it to a ramp, etc. and dont want to mess with all that.

Nathan, start with recharging the battery, a seperate 6 gallon tank with fresh fuel, and hook directly into the outboard. Shouldn't have a problem.

Does the new fuel tank fit under the rear thwart? I'm hoping that new tank is going to be a well received and long awaited fix. Over 400 hours on my F60 without a hiccup. I would not be overly concerned. Just start with the easiest and most likely culprits. Unless you have more money than time, bring it to Dukes. Michael.

Still have not cashed your check.

Zotch is correct, I would also clean the plugs, they probably do not need it but not a big deal to do this...

It sounds like you need to make some repairs, before you can optimize performance.
