Hey guys I would like to introduce myself. I have owned 3 whalers and have grown up on them my whole life. I now acquired a red 15' Mischief and am looking to put an F60 on the back of it. Would this be sufficient power on this boat? Even if it has 3-4 passengers and possibly pulling a wakeboarder? Let me know what you guys think. Best Regards, Edward

I would get the new f70 from Yamaha or a 70-90 two stroke Yamaha if still available. A F60 would be marginal with the load you describe. |

I would go Suzuki 90 at 341 lbs. |

Would a [Yamaha] F90 be too much weight at 369-lbs? Does anyone on the site have this. I am not biased toward other brands but I have had the best luck with Yamaha so I would like to stick to them. |

Here is a link to what others experienced with an F60 on a 15 although not a Mischief. http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/007066.html |

Seems others have reported good results using the F60. If you should decide to use a 60hp Yamaha 4-stoke you should also consider the T60 which uses similar size and ratio gear case as the new F70. |

My biggest fear is the fact that the mischief has the fiberglass top cap which has got to weigh an extra 200 lbs at a minimum. This puts me at 40% more weight than any other standard 15.. I am concrened that the 60 is just enough for a standard 15 but may not be for the heavier mischief. |

There used to be guy who hung around here, and then got banned, and is now on Screamandfly.com. who owns a red Mischief in Naples FL, with a 2-stroke Merc 90 it. I got the impression it was too much power for the boat, even though the engine weighs 303#. You might try to locate him over there for some information. Uses the screen name of NNT.A Yamaha 70 2-stroke might be perfect power and weight for the boat, if you can locate one. |

While it is true that the Mischief has more weight in the bow you are also sitting down with lower wind resistance then a center console. When I changed the interior of my boat from the Currituck style to a Montauk interior I lost three mph at WOT. |

That is Bob Kemmler's mischief. He had a 115 Tower on it and that was too much. He then put a 90 merc and from what I remember it did about 50ish. I was in it once. I think the new 70 Yamaha or the 90 Suzuki would be your only bet on the 15. A F90 would be a tad heavy but try adding weight to yours and see how it rides. The heavy bow might offset it. |

The F60 has nowhere near the pickup of a conventional 2 Stroke. I have the same 15 Sport I have had for 23 years. It originally had a Yamaha 70, later a Yamaha 60, and now the F60. The F60 simply does not make the boat hop out of the water like the two other engines did, although it flys at top end.I would go with the brand new Yamaha F70 if you plan to ski, etc., and prop it accordingly. You do NOT want to plan on skiing with the F60 and people in the boat. |
