[An unspecified seller of a 2003 Mercury 60-HP ELPTO outboard is asking for] $3,150. I am asking for the hours. I would also have to get controls, wiring harness, and a propeller. I have been quoted $6,165 for a new Mercury 60 and about $1,100 for rigging and labor. This [offer of a used motor for $3,150] does not sound like such a great deal, either, for a seven year old motor.John

John -- A 2003 Mercury 60 ELPTO is a conventional carb'ed two stroke outboard, and not one of Mercury's best at that. With the effort and expense of changing all the controls and gauges, it doesn't seem like much of a deal either. If low price and reliability are your concerns, why not buy a good ol' OMC 70 HP two stroke like the boat originally had? |

I am open to all options. This one has 200 hours, a guess by the owner, and he will throw in the rigging for $200 more. Looks like it needs a propeller also.John |

I hope all of those figures you mentioned were in dollars. I edited your article to include the notation of the dollar sign. |
