I [have] a 1989 Revenge 25 W-T that needs to be re-powered. I am looking for some advice on what would be the best engine or engines to install: E-TEC or four-cycle.

I recommend a single 250-HP motor, brand of your choice. When I re-power my own Revenge 25 Walk-Through, that is what I will use.The Evinrude E-TEC 250 is on my short list: http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/006397.html |

The Suzuki V6's are also on the "light" side of the four-cycle category. Dealer network and price are my main factors. |

If you have twin engines installed already, I recommend twin E-TEC 150's. They are on my list for my 25' Outrage Cuddy when the time comes. |

I had a 25 Revenge Walk-Thru that had twin 225-HP Evinrude two-cycle engine originally. I re-powered with twin Evinrude FICHT 175-HP. I felt like this was a great combo. Fast, economical--after fixing a few problems. I had a Whaler Drive option. Be sure to check shaft length requirement before purchase. The guy that bought it from me is still using the boat and loves it. Engines are ten years old now. |

I'm with Tom W Clark on this. I had a 1988 Revenge 25 WT with a single 250 Yamaha (OX-66) 2-stoke. It was a very good match for that hull. Plenty of power with even a full load. Fuel economy, although not stellar, was darn good for an older technology outboard. A newer outboard would do far better, especially at trolling speeds etc. Cruising speeds were around 23-28 mph, even 30 mph, and a top speed of about 42-43 mph.

This really depends on what he is looking for and if a Whaler drive. |

I agree that the intended use of the boat will dictate, to some degree, the choice of power. Bob does not tell us how it will be used or what his goals are so we can't really speculate too much.Bob says he has a Revenge 25 Walk-Through. Repowering a Revenge 25 Walk-Through Whaler Drive is another discussion as it is really different boat with different power requirements. |

I would recommend a 4 stroke for it, ours now has a 2006 Yamaha F250 on our custom bracket , after teh Whale Drive was removed. So far performance has been fantastic, 44.5mph and a 32mph cruise speed, we still have several prop sizes to try and are hoping for more. If I had a choice for a new motor I would run a Suzuki 300. |
