With so much being said about mounting engines higher than in the past, has anyone put a 20-inch-shaft outboard on a Boston Whaler OUTRAGE 18?

I have heard of one person doing this, and with a Yamaha T50 of all motors. He claims it works fine.

If a 25-inch-shaft engine were mounted at the often-recommended three-hole-up position, it would be 3 x 0.75-inch, or 2.25-inch higher than the lowest or standard position. If a 20-inch-shaft engine were mounted in its lowest position, it would be about 5-inch higher than standard position. Or, in terms of number of holes up, it would be almost seven-holes-up.

It might work if the engine was on a setback bracket, AND running a well tuned stainless prop designed to run highly elevated....like Laser II's, Enertia, Tempest, etc.
A Merc with a Sportmaster gearcase would also be helpful to insure adequate cooling flow to the engine.
