I am in the process of rigging a new F40LA on my 13'. I will be installing a stainless steel propeller and request input on a sizing. I had the same boat with an F40 years ago and was very satisfied with the performance. The motor makes 40HP at 5500 rpm's. My dealer will work with me to fine tune the performance but, I need a close starting point. Thank you in advance.

I recommend you try both of these:
10-5/8" x 13" Yamaha Painted Stainless Steel, Yamaha part # 663-45974-02-00
10-1/2" x 12" Yamaha Performance Series 3-Blade, Yamaha part # MAR-GYT38-03-12
The later is the same as the Stiletto Triad and Turbo Hot Shot

Tom, Andy at Shipyard will be working with me on the sizing. Can you advise which one first? It would be nice to hit the right size on the first try. Thank you for your assistance.

Eddie, I'd be trying the 12" first, for 2 reasons:
1) For breaking in a 4-stroke Yamaha, I'd prefer to be backing off the throttle than lugging. Running the motor hard occasionally seems to be important to ring seating.
2) I'll bet you can find the Stiletto Triad for quite a bit less money than the Yamaha version. And if it does not work, you can resell it.

Thanks Tim. I will post results once I finish rigging and test. Not keeping the records of my previous boat results was a mistake. The new owners number has expired. Thanks again.

Eddie -- I think you misunderstand. They are both the correct size for their respective models.
