This post is FYI for those of you with Humminbird products. I recently "fried" my Humminbird Piranha 2 depth finder (due to overcharging problems with my 70hp Johnson). I took it to the local Bass Pro shop and was informed that it would cost "$100 just to look at it..." . I was not sure if he meant the factory but took his word on it. I threw the depthfinder in the trash but decided to pull it out and contact Humminbird via email. The response was better than I had hoped, the customer service rep told me that for $44.95 they would repair the fishfinder, parts, labor and return shipping as well as a 90 day warranty, included in this price. I am sending it off Monday and will keep y'all updated-k

It is always best to check directly with the manufacturer. Often they will have flat rate plans for servicing out of warranty equipment to the original purchaser. I have had my standard handheld serviced this way on two occasions in the past 6 six years and it has savved me a bundle of money on either a new purchase or local service work.

UPS just dropped my Pirhana 2 fishfinder off- plugged it in and it came to life! I guess I'll have to try to find some fish tomorrow to make sure this thing is working! 11 days turn around time is much better than I expected, now if only they could guarantee me to catch fish!
Speedbump you were right on in suggesting to check with the manufacturer- glad I pulled it out of the trash! -k
