In considering trim tabs such as made by Lenco for my Nantucket or Outrage 190, how do trim tabs affect the location of the SONAR transducer? Where do you put the SONAR transducer? Thanks. J

Here's what [the SONAR transducer position] looks like on the transom of my Ventura. No turbulence whatsoever from the tabs.

Tom,

A few questions on the tabs, for I'm considering
installing tabs on my 21' Whaler.

Are those Lenco 12x9s?
How did the install go?
Tab performance?
Was it possible to mount them further out,
between the 1st and 2nd strakes?
Perhaps the scuppers/ladder influenced the mounting location?

Thanks
Timing

They're Bennett trim tabs and came installed as origninal equipment. They've worked flawlessly for 3 + years. The only thing I've done is install a trim tab position indicator. Took me about 2 hours and was simple to do. Had to insert a rod into the piston cylinder and install the TPI and wire it. I have Lenco trim tabs on my 235 Conquest. The difference is the Bennetts are hydralic and the Lencos are electric. They both work as advertized.

The manufacturer's installation directions will show where to mount them on the transom. On my Conquest they're located farther out but under the transom (in the Whaler designed location). The performance I get from the Bennett's is excellent.

highanddry--on line there is a deal on Bennett trim tabs for [under] $400, a special buy about 40-percent off.
