Is anyone running the Matrix 27 with Garmin 76C GPS. I'm having the hardest time getting the fish finder to recognize the gps for plotting. I know I should have went with a Lowrance Combo unit from the get go. LIVE AND LEARN!

Humminbird doesn't seem to have the manual for their GPS
connection cables on their website. If you can post what
the wires are, I can walk you through hooking it up.
The wires will be labeled something like

NMEA OUT + (white(

Which Humminbird GPS connection cable do you have?

I'm not running the same system, but in connecting my Garmin GPSMAP 76 to my Standard Horizon VHF I had what may have been a similar problem. Garmin units are set by default to use their proprietary communication method. I had to manually change the setting to use NMEA Output. I won't tell you how long it took me to figure this out.

I'm pretty sure I have all the right wires and the connections are correct. I have the proper Humminbird/garmin cable and y-adapter installed.
I just can't seem to get them recognize each other. Any useful tips would be greatly appreciated.

The manufacturers have made NMEA interconnection WAAAY more
complicated than it has to be. Different terminology,
different color codes, and two different but compatible
electrical interfaces. So don't immediately assume you have
it right. It took me a half day to get my first one working,
and I have a masters degree in electical engineering.

I tracked down some info what I think is your cable.
The connections would be:

GPS Serial Data Out (Brown) to FF NMEA IN (Green)
GPS ground (Black) to FF ground (Black)
GPS Serial Data In (White) to FF NMEA Out (White)

The last connection is optional, but will cause the GPS to
record depth with a waypoint. And I'm not 100% sure the
FF white wire is NMEA Out (I had to infer that from what
I found)

Now you need to setup the GPS:

Go to the Setup Menu, Select Interface
Set the Serial Interface to NMEA In, NMEA Out, 4800 baud

And now setup the fishfinder:

OH. The Matrix 27 is a fishfinder only. It is not a chart
ploter. !!!!
