Does the warning horn for a 1993 Mercury 75-HP detect an overheat? Or is it just for low oil condition? If it does warn of an overheat would it sound differently [than it sounds when warning of an oil problem]?

[On a Mercury outboard motor the alarm signal for an] overheat [condition] is a constant BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. [On a Mercury outboard motor the alarm signal for a problem with the] oil [system] is a BEEP BEEP BEEP.

Are you sure? When my oil level gets below a certain point it make a continuous beep. It beeps intermittently only when the oil level moves around while underway and goes below a certain level at times.

Also, what would cause the horn to make sporadic hardly audible chirps sometimes.
