This engine was one the first of the oil injected models for Mercury. I had the oil injection system intact up to about 10 years ago and began getting the flaky false alarms and other nuisance problems that gave me insecurity to run it with OI, so I defeated the system and removed the oil pump, cut wires to the oil system electronic module and installed a water pressure gauge to replace the overheat alarm function on the module which I lost when I defeated the electronic module. Would anyone know if a true temperature gauge reading could be possible to a dash gauge from a sensor location between #s 1 & 3 cylinder sparkplugs? And how exactly would it need to be wired up sensory wires and power wires? The sensor which is the original one and needs replacing, per my factory manual is the 240 degree sensor. I would like to install a gauge with that maximum reading. Thanks for a very interesting website. I have read a lot of very useful information.
