I know how much everyone on here likes gadgets and would like to recommend getting a GoPro HD Hero for their boat. You never know what you are going to encounter while spending the day on the water and mine quickly proved how invaluable it is. I have captured some really cool footage and uploaded it onto my Facebook page for all my friends to see from whale sighting to running my boat hard in rough water to limits of king salmon in 20 minutes. They are really easy to use and the picture quality is phenomenal. I even bought the "chesty" accessory so I can mount it to my chest for surf casting for stripers off the beach. Unfortunately, when I finally hooked into a nice striper when I had it with me I forgot to turn it on. I was disappointed when I got home and went to download the clip and there was nothing there. Oh, well next time I guess.

I fully agree, the Go Pro cameras have some amazing capabilities, especially given the cost is so low. The risks you can take with this camera really opens up what can be attempted.
BluewaterPirate, how did you rig your camera in your fishing setup?

Here's my first attempt at a short video for PNW salmon fishing. Nothing like what Bluewater Pirate created, but stay tuned.....

Here's one of some easy salmon limits plus one in 30 minutes!

Ha, that was great... That marlin made quite a few jabs, felt bad for the thing. (Almost painful to watch.)

Also shows how important it is to keep your gear scented (or at least free of bad scents). I imagine salmon follow for some time as well before they strike.

I think I'll get one on my crab pot. That would be a nice time lapse.

Chriscz - nice flasher, eerie glow of the surface reminds me of diving.

The first part of the video was the descent down to 90 feet, the surface sunlight disappearing. Check out this video of crabs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcCGZxxk-Mc&feature=youtube_gdata_player
it would be a good place to put your crab pot.
