On October 31, 2014 an announcement was made that Blue Sea Systems has been sold to Power Products LLC.

Blue Sea Systems is located in Bellingham, Washington. It was founded in 1992 by an experienced blue water boater. It has grown into a premier supplier of marine electrical wiring products and marine electrical devices. It is a very well-known brand, and its products enjoy a very wide distribution and excellent reputation.

Power Products LLC is located in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. The company owns a wide range of manufacturing divisions whose names are probably more recognized than Power Products LLC. In industrial electrical products their brands include:

--Acme Electric, a transformer manufacturing company;

--GB Gardner-Bender, which makes electrical wire, switches, terminations, connections, tools, cable ties,conduit benders, heat shrink tubing, and test instruments;

--Sperry Instruments, a maker of electrical and electronic test instruments; and

--Turner Electric, a maker of high-voltage electrical power distribution equipment.

Power Products LLC also owns a very broad collection of marine and recreational electrical companies. Many of these brands will be very familiar to boaters, such as:

--ANCOR, a wire and electrical terminal manufacturer;

--MARINCO, a collection of other brands; see below;

--ProMariner, a battery charger manufacturer, also acquired recently; and

--MASTERVOLT, an electrical manufacturer of marine, automotive, and solar electrical products.

Under the banner of the MARINCO brand, one finds more well-known marine electrical companies, such as:

--BEP, originally a New Zealand marine electrical company;

--GUEST, makers of battery chargers for marine applications;

--AFI, a maker of electrical boat accessories; and

--NICRO, a marker of marine ventilation products.

With the addition of Blue Sea Systems to the collection of companies owned by Power Products LLC, the entire range of marine electrical manufacturers seems to now be assembled under one corporate umbrella. The most well-known and respected marine electrical brands are now all part of Power Products LLC.

A local newspaper article gives more news about the acquisition of BLUE SEA SYSTEMS by POWER PRODUCTS LLC:

A quick profile of the companies (in the above article) suggests that Blue Sea Systems sales volume was estimated at US-$11.3-million.
