At the Marine Equipment Trade Show or METS, the DAME Award, for Design Award MEts, is given to various products of exhibitors in several categories. For 2014 a DAME Award in the category "machinery, propulsion, mechanical and electrical systems and fittings" has been given to BEP (now known as Marinco by BEP due to inclusion in the corporate stable of Power Products LLC) for their recently introduced line of PRO INSTALLER E-Z MOUNT BATTERY SWITCHES.
The DAME Award jury explained their choice:

The Jury really appreciated the simplicity and ease of installation of the EZ-Mount Battery Switches from Marinco by BEP. Instead of working from the rear of the switch, you install the base, connect the cables and then attach the actuator and cover. The switches also integrate very well with the rest of the range and look good – important when even the smallest detail below hatches is now under scrutiny by owners.

Having installed a couple, that award was right on. Does simplify installation.

There are several models of the PRO INSTALLER EZ-MOUNT battery switches. One unusual model is a called a dual bank switch. The rotary actuator has the following positions:
OFF--all circuits off
ON-1--battery 1 is connected to load 1, usually the HOUSE load
ON-1,2--battery 1 is connected to load 1, and battery 2 is connected to load 2, usually the ENGINE
PARALLEL--battery 1 and battery 2 are connected in parallel to loads 1 and 2, used for emergency starting.
The intended application is for boats with two battery banks and one engine. The switch allows the HOUSE loads to be ON while the engine is set to OFF.
