On January 20, 2015 the Coast Guard of the USA formally declared its SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) compliant Sea Area A1 designation. According to SOLAS regulations, the definition of Sea Area A1 is:
quote: The completion of the coastal portion of the RESCUE 21 project has enabled the USA to be able to comply with this SOLAS definition and declare a Sea Area A1. The defined Sea Area A1 has some exclusions:
quote: I don't think this declaration has any practical effect on recreational boaters. It is really a legal or treaty compliance step to formally comply with SOLAS requirements.
