Amazon and other sites have [the GARMIN VHF-300 AIS Handset Marine Band radio] listed as "discontinued by manufacturer." Garmin's site shows it as a current product still. Is Garmin coming out with a replacement model soon? I'm interested in installing [a GARMIN VHF-300 AIS Handset radio], but if something new is near, I'd like to consider it. Thank you--Tim.

Please give us the URL for the several websites you reference that announce the product as being discontinued. I checked a few and saw no such indication. I did see a big price cut for the listing at West Marine. See:

I don't know if this means it is accurate, but I saw a couple time earlier, where Amazon seller announced this ahead of Garmin.

I don't recognize that first website as having any sort or reputation or authority. In my browser some strange message appears about "Hacked by [someone]." The domain hosting the website is in the small Pacific Island territory of Tokelau. I have generally found that the most authoritative writing on marine electronics does not originate from obscure, small, Pacific Island territories, particularly one with a total land area of 4-square-miles. On that basis, I have removed the URL.
