The giant outdoor and marine retailer Cabela's today has named NAVICO--the marine electronics conglomerate--their 2014 vendor of the year. This is the second consecutive year that NAVICO has been so honored by Cabela's.

I guess Cabela's has never called NAVICO'S (Lowrance's) Tech Support....

Pure self-promotion from a retailer. I also remember Cabela's saying that the Tracker boats were the best value on the market...

My next project for my 21 foot 1995 Outrage will be to get a Simrad NSS12 eVo2, coupled with a BSM3 black box sounder module, with a pocket mounted Airmar PM275L-W chirp transducer. I currently have an NSS7 which is basically standing alone as a chart plotter. I have a 1995 Furuno FCV – 582 CRT fishfinder with a lame transom mount transducer. I cannot believe this thing has lasted 20 years of extensive pounding, and it still works. I am very impressed with the Simrad, and after speaking with the designer of the BSM3, I think it is the way to go for me. That, and an Icom 506 with AIS, and a Delorme for worldwide texting and SOS, and then I'm on to the next expenditure whatever that may be.
