Hopefully someone has experience with a 2003 Boston Whaler Dauntless with Mercury 135-HP OptiMax Saltwater outboard. When I turn the key to the ACCESSORY ON position, the warning horn sounds a constant beep that remains on after the engine is started. There are no other error messages or audible warnings.
Is this a check SmartCraft does on the battery voltage? It turns out that both of my batteries are in need of replacement which I will do this week. My SmartCraft manual says nothing about a constant beep at key on position.

Mercury Marine has a telephone support line. Perhaps you can call them and inquire about this behavior. If the instrument sounding the alarm has an operator's guide, and if there is no mention of a aural alarm occurring in this manner, you may need special technical support from Mercury Marine to gain understanding of the cause.
