I have heard that the Canadians have been getting a bit picky about Crystal Bay and American boaters. If you drop anchor there they want you to register with customs and immigration, which means a trip to the Ontario mainland and a call on the telephone.

Any truth to that story?

I grew up in Lasalle, a town on the canadian side, pretty close to Crystal Bay. Lemme tell you it was one of the best spots when i was young, so so so much fun. I am not sure aboutt he current rules regarding immigration. I see the problem though. When i was 12-14 we had a little boat 1

Sorry, hit the wrong key...

anyhow, it was totally packed with boats and jet ski's, i think it became to packed. So as a way to curb the overpopulation of the area, i think they may have imposed those rules. Basically to make it a little harder to get to will make people discouraged and bring the #'s down. It follows what i remember happening, before you could go there with a 24 of beer and part no worries, then the police started showing up, and doing spot inspections, if you didnt have a potti onboard they would fine you, then the rules came if you didnt have a potti and a place to sleep it would possible be wrong and you could be fined. Now i live in the West Indies in Antigua, if you want to anything you can, Third world countries offer alot more freedom, kinda wierd being from the "free world".
