Anyone from NJ on this site? How do you use your Whaler; fishing, cruising? Anyone interested in a Jersey Whaler Rendezvous summer of 2002?

I'm from LBI but now reside in FL. I might be able to make it but in a Hydra-Sports:). Tightpenny is from Barnegat area too and so might a few others.

I keep my boat in Wildwood Crest. I use it for cruising around, tubing, etc.

Hey Sixer,
I gathered from your name you are from the Delaware valley. I’d be into something this summer. Mainly use my boat for Cruising around and exploring. I use her in the Delaware River and in Avalon & Sea Isle area. I live around 15 min from the Comm Barry Bridge

I run out of Barnegat, mostly fishing. Have an Outrage 23.

My Montauk, the "MyssTerri" is currently under cover in South Seaside Park.

I've been wondering if anyone ever had a rendezvous in NJ. The closest I ever had was the Whaler Owners Fishing Tournament that Pelican Harbor used to run when they were on Pelican Island. This was a great event.

As you might gather, I mostly fish, but my wife just might be interested in some kind of cruise, provided that there were bathrooms available.

Used to enter that tournament when Woody ran it. Had an Outrage 17 then.

My old Eastport is on a trailer in central NJ. I'll be working on it over the winter, hope to have it ready by spring. Dan

I try to keep bugging Woody and Judy to run one again. So far, it has fallen on deaf ears. It was the only way I could get one of my buddies out of Warren County.
Sixer posted 12-03-2001 02:06 PM ET (US)     Profile for Sixer
I've done the same, was a lot of work for them and toward the end some folks started complainin' about stuff, so they called it. Some folks are never happy. I've thought of asking them to start a Whaler fishing club, maybe when I see them after they return from FL.

They probably will be at the NY Boat Show at the Javits center, they were last January. I look forward to the show to ward off the winter doldrums. I'll bug them there.

People complaining are a pain in the butt. If they don't like the way it was run, they should just opt out.

I run a 19 outrage out of Toms River (Pine Beach).

Marco,

I'm also from Pine Beach, do you trailer or keep the boat in the water?

I keep it on a trailer and put in at Mill Creek. My wife is from Pine Beach and her mother still lives there (Hillside ave).

Got a buddy in Old Bridge, NJ who's had a Montauk for quite some time. Anyone in that area should post and maybe I can hook you up. He has also a real nice place on Black Lake in upstate NY. I hear the Musk can be pretty awesome there!

I am docked in Stone Harbor, NJ. I own a 23 Outrage appropriately named "Outrage-Us". This is my first time on this site. Very informative indeed.

Put her name on the boat. It should cover a world of other errors, intentional and inadvertant.

Sixer- Time and place, we are real interested. Like others my wife needs releaf. The Chesapeake has so many places to enjoy, just for a suggestion.
Sixer posted 01-02-2002 07:26 PM ET (US)     Profile for Sixer
For those interested in a summer get rendezvous, how about some suggestions. So far we have the Chesapeak, the Delaware, and I suggest a trip up the Hudson, maybe West Point?
Bigshot posted 01-03-2002 09:27 AM ET (US)     Profile for Bigshot  Send Email to Bigshot
Let me get this straight. You guys live in NJ and you want to rendezvous in one of the 3 surrounding states? Hey FL guys, wanna get together in Alabama or Georgia?
TightPenny posted 01-04-2002 12:18 PM ET (US)     Profile for TightPenny  Send Email to TightPenny
Two out of three seem to be in the state.

The Delaware forms the western border of the state, although the navigability of the northeren areas is not the best due to rocks and rapids.

The Hudson forms the eastern border of the state with NY, and is navigable for quite a distance.

The Chesapeake, well we can't have it all.

Bigshot posted 01-04-2002 03:27 PM ET (US)     Profile for Bigshot  Send Email to Bigshot
Was just joking but you are correct. The Hudson where it touches Nj is way North and Delaware way south. The Hudson is NY in my opinion(and probably NY's). I thought he meant Delaware the state since they were talking about the Chesapeak. I have run the delaware a few times from Trenton south but I prefer Barnegat Bay....how about you Tight Penny:)
Sixer posted 01-05-2002 08:58 AM ET (US)     Profile for Sixer
To keep Bigshot pacified, let's add Barnegat Bay down to Great Bay, maybe a side trip to AC for our better halves. All within NJ boundaries.:)

Barnegat Bay is home to me and my Whalers.

How could Barnegat Bay and Cape May be his home, eh? :) TightP...did you guys get any snow this weekend? My parents are in MD so I am cut-off. I don't miss LBI in the winter.

It is snowing in King of Prussia. Should be fun ride home tonight :(

Snowing here in Pine Beach on the Toms River. Just about covering the grass, nothing on the roads.

Western Passaic County 7+" my friend informed me at work. Hoboken pure hard rain, my apartment bathroom ceiling leaked nicely :( . As usual, only found regarding Whalers, reserve floatation was not part of the spec listing.

We just got a dusting on the sidewalks and roads. The lawns had some slushy stuff here in Woodbridge.

I use my 1971 17` in the Shark River and Sandy Hook bay. There are some great spots there that could be the starting point for a really cool trip up the Hudson.

Pete,
Good to hear from you. Your fix lasted through the rest of last season. Looks like it should last for the nest forever.

Too bad that Whaler didn't build it right in the first place. I can't believe that I run the boat that rough as compared to other folk, or is it just that the water conditions I deal with are just worse.

I bugged Woody again at Javits, and didn't get any satisfaction other than maybe. Hopefully he will make good on the maybe.

That is the NEXT FOREVER. Fat fingers.
captreils posted 01-29-2002 10:41 PM ET (US)     Profile for captreils  Send Email to captreils
the newer bow rails are one welded together railing which are more rigid than the older pieced together railings,I think this puts more stress on the mounting points. The 16'7 that I am restoring is not going to have a bow rail, and maybe not even side rails.Hopefully it will be done before the summer,I want to plan a trip down the ICW to Florida with it.I would also like to be a part of any local get togethers.

I'll be stopping by to talk to Woody within the next week or so. Will also bug him a bit, and try to get Judy to do the same.

The intercoastal waterway runs 100 miles from the Manasquan Inlet to Cape May. Lots of good stuff along the way. Easy riding for the smaller whalers.

My brother lives on the Meteateconk River (sp?) near Brick. He has a 71 outrage with the dump truck sides that is completely restored - named TICA. Sits on a lift. What a beauty.
