Now that I have your attention, yep, we have to get it going again. Steinahatchee is a must but I think the season is in Julyish.. Now we have time to get a St. Johns trip over in Janices neck of the creek and stay at Hontoon. We can reserve rooms, get a bunch of grills going, "I have learned we have a few friends that like to cook" nothing like sauteed manatee and gator tails and owl teeth, plus swim in the crystal clear springs and explore.Janice, get the paddles stirring! May 25th looks like a good 3day weekend. What do you think? Daytona trip looks okay too a bit later. Whats this bit about lots of water officials?

Isn't that Memorial day weekend??? I hope they aren't booked already. Well, if so, there is plenty of camping on Hontoon Island State Park, right across the river from the marina. Let's do this...but be sure and check out www.hontoon.com & www.hollybluff.com |

Janice, I called Hontoon and yepper, its a holiday weekend, with a 3 nite minimum..... Around 115 per nite, and their was availability. 3 nites is too many. Oh well. I looked at Holly Bluff and they look like they only rent houseboats. Hmmmm Whats it like camping out there. Is it hot? Are there breezes? |

Scallop season is July 1- September 10. Supposedly from the swanee river north. But I HEARD that they are moving the line to just north of Tarpon Springs. |

I talked to some friends and they said scalloping starts July 5th. A lot of loonies out there in the first few weekends. Might be better to wait a week or two. Don't know if the line is going to be further south than Suwannee this year. |

KeysWhale - When did you see us? I can't keep track of all those creeks down there in the Keys. Is that one at the Ocean Reef Club area? If so, it would have been a month ago. What kind of Whaler were you in? Recently saw a bunch of Whalers in the Tavernier Creek area. |

Things have gotten a little quiet on the Florida trips. The Smirkless will be at Ponce Inlet/disappearing island this weekend if anyone wants to hook-up, I'll likely be on channel 16. Otherwise, the St. John's still sounds interresting. What's happening? Smirk |

Forgot to reply about the camping. It's really too late in the year to camp, you'll get ate alive my the mosquito's. Nite trips are real fun though, spotting the red eyes looking back at you. Lake Beresford is just up the river; we swim, ski, and just have fun. I do think a trip up river to Silver Glen or Juniper Springs in Lake George would be fun too. |

The 18th & 19th is good for me. I've done enough on the '68 Sakonett that I'm not so embarrased about its condition. Sounds like I might have to get the running lights operational by then. Where do you put in, Hontoon? Smirk |

We can put in at Hontoon, or right around the bend at Holly Bluff. There is a poker run on the river on Sunday the 19th, $10.00 per hand and benefits the Rodeheavers Boys' Ranch. Winner gets 1/2 the pot...gonna be a blast! Janis |

Swellmonster...now I know the real reason why you aren't coming to the Bahamas with us...Costa Ricca is beautiful isn't it. I bet you were just beside yourself without your boat. Or did you take it over? Did you get out on the water at all? In what...love to hear the stories... Janis |
