You can count me in. I will be heading up early on Sat AM. I will just be staying the day and shouldn't need a slip for my Montauk. Again, if I can bring something just say the word. It will be myself and maybe my girlfriend. Thanks ~mw |

We also had a great time. Sorry we had to bug out so quickly, we were Sherm's ride back to the Marina and he had a long, dark ride ahead of him. Thanks again, Brian & Kate, for your hospitality. Next year, we're taking a week off--we didn't want to leave on Sunday. Don't forget to join us August 2-3 in Bayfield. http://members.tcq.net/davepen/rendezvous.html Dave |

I would love to do this again next year. Maybe if there were some that could come several days earlier, we could take a long overnight run to the north (like Gladstone or Beaver Island). On a seperate note, I just came back from driving a Hinkley 29' CC. If I can just come up with the $250k to get it bought I may be looking for another rendezvous to join. I am seriously considering selling my wife and kids to pay for it. Brian |

Have discussed the Door County Rendesvous with my father in law and he and I would like to "hook up" for next years event. He is in Sturgeon Bay and I would trailer. I know it is a long time out but if you have dates already, I'd appreciate it. Would love to show off our boat and see others that are in the area. |

I will actually be in Indy during that time. Not to mention I have a shot engine on the Bertram, and I don't think that the Dauntless would make the run to Escanaba... Brian |
bdb |
posted 09-07-2002 10:21 AM ET (US)
What Outrageman means to say is that the only way he'll run the Dauntless to Escanaba is aboard a frieghter. By the way MW, if you think Ole Harry is running a Montauk to Escanaba in the middle of October, you're nuts! However, to show my support, I'll monitor you on the radio so you can keep me abreast of the voyage. Harpoon, already in long-johns, Harry |

Thanks for the offer. It's not so much the cold, but beating the rush. 95% of the boats in my area are wrapped for the winter, and only a few outfits do the wrapping. I'd rather do it early then be waiting on a wrap when the snow flies early. Dave |

Susan & I have the date set as a "tentative" for that weekend. I'm assuming the Sister Bay Marina will still be open, which is where I plan to be. I've never been up there that late in the season. Sounds like Mills canvas weather. Weather permitting, I would like to do a run up to Rock Island for a picnic lunch and a little hiking around. BDB & Eagleman. Will you folks also be around? Sounds like Brian Jr will be away. |

BULLETIN! Harpoon Harry here, reporting from the near-eye of the storm. Leave the boats home boys. I mean Fuhgitaboudit. South winds tomorrow to 30mph, waves 3-4. Saturday gale winds 35+ and waves building 6-8. Swinging NW 35+. Low temps and t-storms, and maybe snow. Check it out at the web address I gave you above. All this must have scared the snot out of Outrageman who suddenly informed me that he is packin' the wagon, calling it a summer, and tearing off for Portland Friday. Chicken. However, stalwart and brave soul that I am, I will volunteer to sacrifice myself at some local watering hole, should the need arise. Sincerely, The Ever Vigilant Harpoon Harry. I was doing fine until that weather report... I don't relish 3-4 hours driving to pit my 15 footer against 4-8 foot seas. Just checked the newspaper forecast and it agrees with the above. I'm afraid that even the promise of good company can't convince me to make that drive, so I'm gonna welch on this one - much as I love the area. Since hope springs eternal, I'm not putting my boat up just yet. Fall fishing is just getting good. Next year! |

It's probably just as well we're not going. One of the worst traffic pile-ups I have ever seen (on television) occurred this morning on I-43 at Sheyboygan, and the highway may be closed all weekend. At least 25 vehicles involved, and nine dead. |

Saw that too Larry...would definitely make for a detour. Well...I guess that settles it with the rendezvous...I'll be in the Lake this weekend, but on the opposite side - in St. Joseph...jumping the 3-6 footers forecast for that side. Going to be the last of the big lake runs for the year probably....going inland and south from here on out. Anyone else who's gonna be out and about around St. Joseph, feel free to wave me down! Well folks, at 8:40 (current time) the mess is just starting to roll in. It must be running late. It's somewhat foggy, wind is just starting to pick up, it's damp, cooling, and going to get cold enough to freeze tonight. But if anyone does come up, look me up in the phone book. But don't look under the "H's" |
