Not trying to steal JimH's job or anything, but can we start a sign-in for the Stuart rendezvous? I would suggest the following: a) Screen Name I don't mean to be nosy or intrusive, just thought it would be nice to have all of our expected attendees in one spot so it might make it easier to find people at the rendezvous. This is my first one (my parents got sick last year just before that one started, so we were unable to make it). |

I need a piece about 8" wide and 18" long. Could you bring same with you and I will pay you for it when I see you? Thanks in advance! |

Nick- wear the ugly mustard Whaler hat and we won't miss you. Unless we have a last minute change to stay overnight we'll leave Orlando about 7'ish a.m. and be there around 9:30-10:00 a.m. Not sure if we'll take I-95 or the Turnpike -still getting over the 1 axle $7.50 turnpike toll going to Homossassa. The few planning on going offshore- Al, Smirkless, are you registered in the tournament or just heading out on your own? Chris |

The whole point of going off-shore is not to test your boat; but to catch fish! Everyone knows it'll take it; you gotta fish Chris! Really, you should stay...it's a long drive not to, and all the fun is saturday night when everyone goes out to the same local pub and max's their credit card! Come on Chris; don't ditch us! Big, you know you have a place to crash... Larry, will order some mactac and bring it with me; Smirk, got your son's banner, and Al, I'll bring your decals. Now, all I have to remember my fishing pole! Janis |

Hey guys, My wife and I want to come and meet all the people we read about on the forum. Just two questions: 1. Can we bring our new 170? I ask because from what I see everyone has a classic of some sort. I don't want to get laughed at and run out of the marina. 2. Can we enter the fish we catch spearfishing in the fishing tournament so we can kick everyone's butt? Thanks. |

Ok....fog cleared. Friend offered to wire up my hot tub which has been broken for 3+ years now THIS SATURDAY. If I blow this off I will probably be served papers when I return from Stuart by the wife who has been hounding me for 3+ years to fix the damn thing. Point is I can probably get there Sunday...who is gonna still be there on sunday? I really want to meet Jim, George, Ace, and whoever else I have not met yet. Would be a nice daytrip on Sunday if people are gonna still be there. |

Divefan - Actually, this event is much more new boat oriented than "Classic" oriented, so you'll fit right in. BW will have many of it's new models on display and for test rides. Remember this is being hosted by MarineMax, the overall purpose of such event being to eventually sell new Boston Whalers. I don't think MarineMax ever sold a classic. |

Regarding TEST RIDES, Boston Whaler plans to have the following boats available on Saturday and Sunday for in-water demonstration rides: --320 OUTRAGE with twin VERADO engines --305 CONQUEST with twin VERADO engines I also think they might have a 150 SPORT, too. I hope the winds and waves cooperate. It is not too late to register. You can drop-in and register at the door, too. There will be many people there from the factory, including several of the guys who design and build the boats. It will be great to be able to talk to them and to see their latest designs in the water. My guess is that there may also be some people from Mercury there who can answer questions about the new VERADO engines and other topics, too. We are heading to the airport to fly south for the Stuart Rendezvous in about two hours. See everyone there! |

Had a great time in Stuart yesterday. Met Jimh and LHG along with their wives. Ace, Joyce andf their 4 midget children were kind enough to take me on their 25' Temptation AND let me drive it. Janis was there with her friend Kim who was very friendly....and spoke. War was there with his 2 boys as well. There were about 30 people there I wouild say and about 1/3 were CW members who RULED the giveaways and Whaler trivia. VERY nice dealership even though they sell Sea Pigs. They actually had a Whaler inventory unlike many dealers who have 4 boats on hand. There were 2 guys from Whaler who were taking surveys and wanted our input....bet their ears are hurting today. They got more input than I think they bargained for. Merc rep was a real nice guy as well. Chuck Bennett had not shown up yet, nor does anyone from BW think he really exists. They said something about what a good computer program they had or something. For those who have not attended one of these.....make an effort, you WON'T be disappointed. The $25 gets you coolies, a Columbian fishing shirt, misc Whaler things and 2 gallons of 2 stroke oil....FOR $25.....did I mention the open bar and food? See ya'll in Sarsota on 5/21. |

I actually worked on my whaler today!! Friday dad snagged a brand new Baystar setup (missing the hoses) at the annual Marine Flea Market in Dania, FL... Considering the wind while I was working on my whaler today, it was probably better I wasn't in Stuart with it... (I love 30 miles south of Stuart, for those who don't know where I'm at). On a positive note, the upper pivot on my power tilt cylinder is now free again. (it's been binding for months, but seeing as I use the boat so infrequently, I hadn't bothered to fix it.) Steve Leone is right, with enough propane torch, plenty of penetrating fluid, and a big enough hammer, you can get the big rusted peg out of the little hole... Now I just gotta order a tilt-tube, a water pump kit, and hoses for that Baystar... |

No hat Pat. Got the tub ALMOST wired up. We ran the wire hrough the wall into the box, put in new 60amp 220v breaker, hooked up the GFI box at the lanai and ran a 110 line to the shed. Now the pool boy has to come out and hookup the tub itself. All said and done it worked out great. Wife got wired and I got to go to Stuart. |

Well, the Smirk boys really cleaned up the trophies this year. Ethan won: First Place, Junior Angler, In-shore Second Place, Inshore Angler Elliott won: First Place, Junior Angler, Off-shore First Place, Inshore Angler Of course our smirkless ‘68 got the “Oldest Boat” award which was a beautiful framed watercolor print of a classic 13 beached in front a stack of lobster traps. Killer! The main trophies were nice glass bowls engraved with the event, category and Whaler logo of course. The junior trophies were nice gold cups over wood bases. Janis also took Third Place, Inshore Angler and Woman Angler awards. Okay, my kids were the only two kids entered and Janis was the only woman with enough #*;;! to fish in that wind and the fish were small. That just goes to show you what a friendly event this was. Hay, last year they had to raffle off a couple of trophies. My hat is off to the offshore guys who brought in about 14 dolphin total. One of those anglers name was Ethan Elliott; my two kids are Ethan and Elliott, so we had a laugh. They had a raffle give-away three times during the event. I think I ended up with 5 free shirts, one hat, 6 Velcro rod raps, a magazine subscription, a multi-tool, 6 coozies, and probably lots more. This was a great event no one should miss. Always good to see the CW group and others again as well as meet new enthusiasts. |

We had a great time in Stuart. It was way too windy to get offshore so Al a Buy and I had a great time running the intercoastal getting beat up a little in wind and waves. Whalerace does exist. Got to meet LHG and Jimh and their wives. We stayed so late they made me pull my trailer outside the gate so they could lock up and go home while Larry and Jimh helped me tie and secure everything down! The food never stopped from donuts, to hotdogs and burgers to a BBQ dinner. Everyone from Marinemax and Boston Whaler deserve a hand for putting on such a fun event. We will be at the next one in Sarasota! The guys from R&D got to listen to a lot of people and seemed to listen. When I talked to them they wanted to see my boat and started taking pics of some of the mods and seemed very interested in what we thought would improve our boats from the factory. I think the CW members there had the best time- we met up near one of the bridges and cruised back- me(cmarques), Whalerace, Smirkless, Draftsmanswife and Al-a-Buy. I did not get a chance to ride on the 320 Outrage or 305 Conquest but was real impressed by them. Michelle is now in love with the 255 conquest they had there (Maybe in a few years) We ended the evening with a night cruise on LHG's WhaleLure- us, LHG and wife, Jimh and Chris, Smirkless and Ethan & Elliot. As I drove past MarineMax Stuart at lunch today (monday), I somewhat regretted not attending the event. The tents were still up behind the main building... Ironically, I think the regular red & white Boston Whaler banner that hangs on their front fence was falling down... Obviously, I'll have to write BW and ask them to have MarineMax North Palm Beach host an event someday. (they're just down the canal from my house...) Glad to hear fun was had by all, despite the windy weather. I usually spend my lunch hours that I'm not surfing CW sitting at the boat ramp diagonally across the bridge from MarineMax Stuart. You can learn alot, watching other people make launching mistakes, even if they're not whaler owners... |

Thanks to Boston Whaler and Marine Max of Stuart for hosting the event. This was my first event of this kind and I thought it was really well done. The folks at the Monterey Inn were really nice too. They made up a room early so we could stow our gear and not miss out on any of the activities. If you get a chance to overnight in the Stuart area, give them a call. The Girlz and I had a great time seeing Janis/Kim, Chris, and Wade again and meet George and WhalerAce. Whaler's Temptation is one sleek looking boat. With the long fore deck it looks like it is doing 100 MPH sitting at the dock. It was exciting to get to finally meet the twin legends of Larry Goltz and Jim H. for the first time and see the Whale Lure in person. What an outstanding Whaler. Maybe going to Sarasota... Al W. |
