Anyone camping/boating/resident at Lake Tahoe want to meet up at a given time location - prefer the day or weekend of August 7. I will be in Tahoe City Condo w/ a pier for the 1st 2 weeks in August. Suggest meeting up at Rubicon Point, Meeks Bay, or on the east side near Skunk or Secret Harbors.

I would love to but all of my motors are illegal there!

I also am dreaming of a four stroke 225 so I can once again ply the waters of Tahoe. I love the boat in only campground in Emerald Bay

Any bottom paint restrictions in Tahoe? I have my boat's bottom painted with an ablative paint with biocide (Micron CSC) and would like to take it to Tahoe some time.

Also, I have an 1998 Optimax 135. Mercury says it's the same engine they sell now, but no 3 stars on the cowl since there were no ratings back then. Will I have a problem?

I used to have an '90 O-18 w/ Y-150, but after June 2000, I had to leave it home. Last year I found a '93 O-21 w/ no motor - so I took the plunge sold the 18, and got a Y-225 4 stroke - quiet & economical (by the way, there is little re-sale value on 2 stroke motors these days).

As for Optimax 135 - I believe that it is legal at Lake Tahoe at least through 2006(I used a Optimax 135 on a Dauntless 18 back in 2000 w/out any problems). I also don't know of any restrictions on bottom paint.

I suggest that you call either the US Coast Guard (station on Lake Tahoe may be seasonal) or Sierra Boat (they used to be the BW dealer on the lake)to confirm. Sierra Boat is on the CA side, north end near Carnillian (sp???) Bay & USCG is on Dollar Point, just north of Tahoe City, CA.

Damn restrictions on Tahoe are one of the main reasons I have my Revenge for sale. Two Whalers, no CARB motors. Tough to put one on the 13' SS because of the weight issue, but that is what I am looking to do.

Well, if things change, I will be up for a Rendezvous. Gar Woods for lunch or dinner would be a must (reservations required because of below). They are located right next to Sierra Boat in Carnelian Bay. Chance to check out all the woodies there, too. The weekend of August 7th is the Concours d' Elegance (one of the best wooden boat shows you will ever see), so be prepared for some crowds around the north shore marinas. I know this is a Whaler event, but to be in position in the afternoon when all the woodies exit Sierra's marina is pretty damn cool.

Also, there will be a lot of classic cars and hot rods around the lake, as that is also the week of Hot August Nights in Reno.

You have picked the coolest weekend of the year to be in the area.

Any interst in boating or diving at Lake Tahoe - I will be there the weeks of August 1 and 8. I plan to take my 21 outrage and will have it in the water near Tahoe City.
