Lets narrow it down to a month and a place. I vote for July and choose port jefferson as a location.

I am totally flexible on a location however. I spent last summer in the peconics.

I second the motion of Port Jeff

I think Port Jeff is a good location because it is centrally located to people throughout the whole state of CT and we can get the westchester county NY folks involved, not to mention the Long island folks from the south shore who can launch in PJ at the ramp. The port is renowned for accomodations and sightseeing and dining. There are many protected places to beach it or tie up and get your toes in the sand.

Now lets narrow it down to a month...

regards, KG

I grew up boating in Port Jeff / Conscience Bay and the Cove. I have great memories from my child hood up there. Also spent alot of time boat on the south shore in the Patchouge, Bayport and Davis Park area. I'm now in SW Florida, I wish I could attend, it would be great to see that area again. Sounds like fun!

I am in. This is my first season with my 73 OR 21 and I am looking forward to it.

Any place will work for me, but there is a place called clam diggers cove, on the tip of Lloyd harbor, that can only be reached by boat or 3.5 mile hike. You can camp out with beach fires etc.. It is on the tip of the state park. But like I said, I will go anywhere.

Anthony, That sounds like a nice place too. Does it get very crowded? You get the fire going, I'll bring the marshmellows.

All,

I am up for any date. I have a big inspection coming up this week at work, but after that I can take off any time.

In the mean time, I will try to get some more info on the site, local ramps, maybe map of area etc...I have not been there in about 4 years. (I moved into manhattan for work) I will even try to make a trip out there myself in the next few weeks.

I vote Port Jeff and Weekend of June 24.

I live on Shelter Island. I would be open to Port Jeff, however, If you decide to do it out here, I might be able to work out something with my boatyard. Lots of cool beaches and things to do. Providing I finish my resto on my '63 13'.

Let's get it done! If we all make committments, pick a place, get confirmations, then we can sit around a fire with our beers and look at each others boats. Pick someone to be in charge of this and let's do it! I nominate outrage 93 because not only is he a New Yorker, he concieved this.

Since it seems as though we are split on a place maybe we need to have two meetings?? I like Port Jeff as a loc because of the protected water, accesibility for the CT boaters, and some NY Westchester folks as well. Ramps close by make it easy for those trailering from the south shore of LI as well. To that end, I will organize a rendezvous for Port Jefferson on June 25th. I will post a new thread. Send emails kurtgett@aol.com

Shelter Island would be better for me. I fished Greenlawns for fluke this weekend and caught some skates and a beautiful 12inch squid.....

My boats name is Isabella cause she will ALWAYS be my daughter.

My wife loves when I say that!

Am going to try to organize something here. We have a private little peninsula here on Shelter Island with great views. If enough people respond with suggested dates, I will post a new thread. There's quite a few Whaler owners here on "the rock" that I can contact that would participate. Suggestions....Should I organize this as a party? We have a few caterers here on the Island (one even does a mobile pig roast thats outrageous!) Should we do a small trip from here through some of the Island waterways? I border the Mashomac Preserve which is run by the Nature Conservancy. I know the director who might let us go there.(nature trails, historical buildings,Ospreys etc.)Give me some suggestions,as I'm sure that if we do it, the pictures would look GREAT on this site. Let me know...Vince
