Does anyone here have any firsthand knowledge about the lakes near Dallas? I will be moving by Cooper lake, up in Commerce. But I see other lakes / state parks like Lake Texoma, and others to the North / Northeast of Dallas.

Any input on these lakes, where to launch, what to do, etc., is much appreciated.

Thanks!
Jamie

Lake Texoma is the hybrid stripped bass capital of the US. The fish are no where near as big as pure East Coast or Arkansas stripped bass but you can catch a bunch on a trip. I beleive you are limited to 30 something per day. The nastier the weather the better the fishing.
Northwest of there in OK is Lake Eufaula who has one of the oldest surviving single-line Boston Whaler dealers; No. 9 Marina, www.no9marina.com . Al or Brian will take good care of your BW needs.
Welcome to Texas.

Many thanks, dgp. I look forward to the move, but not the July heat. Just when I fill my tackle box with all the right saltwater gear, I move near fresh water! :-)

Oh well, at least I have water and I always wanted to catch some big bass.

Thanks!
